THE BEST SURFING SPOTS – US VS THE REST OF THE WORLD

The United Stated holds its own in respect to the best surfing spots in the world. One can travel to Australia, Africa, or South America and find awesome waves. However, a surfer from the States really never has to travel out of the US to find equally great waves. There is California, New Jersey, and Hawaii to name a few.

Around the world there are to-die-for surfing spots. Some of those include:
Gold Coast City, Australia – Prefect white sand beaches with four break points.
Jeffreys Bay, South Africa – Almost the world’s most famous surfing spot and home to the annual Billabong Pro WCT surfing event.Never heard of this before? Get up to speed here.
Praia da Vila, Brazil – Clear waters, white beaches, and a nice choice of awesome breaks.
Bali, Indonesia – Warm waters heated by volcanic activity, reef breaks, and consistent swells.
Fuerteventura, Spain or “Mecca of Surfers” – Reliable weather and water temperatures all year makes it a great location.

As great as the locations sound from across the globe, the following spots in the States are sure to please any surfer. Plus, for native US surfers this means getting to the waves quicker and easier.
Black’s Beach, San Diego, CA – Hosts one of the world’s best reef breaks and has a wealth of swells. One plus or drawback is that it is a nudist’s beach.
North Shore’s Banzai Pipeline and Waimea Bay, Oahu’s North Shore, Hawaii – These two locations are famous worldwide for having the best, most powerful waves and are some of the most photographed.
Cape Hatteras, North Carolina – Smaller crowds, dependable breaks and swells.
Huntington Beach Pier and Beach, Huntington Beach, CA – extensive span of coastline that can be surfed nearly every day.
Trestles, San Clemente, CA – point breaks, consistent waves that are long-rights and fast-lefts, surfable year around and waves are unaffected by tides.
